Bike activities this week

There are three ways to support bicycle travel this week:

1. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 is International Walk to School Day. Encourage your children or children you know to join thousands of people around the globe walking or biking to school. More information: http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/ and http://sr2smoscow.com/

2. Wednesday October 9, 2013 to Friday October 11, 2013 is the UI Travel Study. Install an Android app on your phone so researchers at the University of Idaho can study travel patterns. A $50 amazon gift card will be given to 3 randomly selected participants. More information: http://goo.gl/zVs3uU

3. Thursday, October 10, 2013 is the City of Moscow’s iCount. Volunteer to count bicyclists and pedestrians at an intersection. More information: https://bikeforlifemoscow.com/2013/10/03/icount-volunteers-needed-for-october-10-2013/

Your Help Needed to Promote Bike and Child Safety

Help promote cycling and child safety!

During the Fair, the Moscow Police Department along with other community organizations will hand out 600 FREE bicycle helmets to area children.

It’s fun and easy!  Help fit helmets, process Amber Alert cards and more!

The Officer Newbill Kids Safety Fair is an annual event working to educated both parents and children about safety and health in Moscow, Idaho and the Palouse.  The event includes a wide range of activities including free bike helmets and helmet fitting for kids 16 & under. Full Moon Bike Ride this Friday!

Join us for a

Full Moon Bike Ride

this Friday, May 24th at 8:00pm!

Meet us at the intersection of South Blaine Street and Paradise Path in Moscow.  We’ll cycle east on the Latah Trail to enjoy the light of the full moon.  If the night is cloudy, decorate your bike with lights for extra fun and visibility.

This is a family-friendly event.  All cycling abilities welcome!

If it rains Friday night, the ride will be canceled and be rescheduled for later in the summer.

Bike to Work Day – Friday, May 17th!

Ready to ride!Celebrate National Bike to Work Day by stopping for free coffee and breakfast goodies from 7am-9am at the corner of 6th and Main in Moscow (in front of Maialina’s)!

The Moscow Food Co-op will also be handing out free samples and will be raffling off a basket of goodies!

Invite your friends!  The more the merrier!

Bike Art Exhibit tomorrow @ City Hall

Over 250 pieces of bike art! Come see it at City Hall!

Thank you to the following schools that had Brooke come into their classrooms and do bike art with their students:

  • Lena – 2 classes

  • Russell – 2 classes

  • Moscow Charter – 5 classes

  • McDonald – 4 classes

  • Palouse Prairie School – 3 classes

Reception tomorrow is open to the public. Participating students are invited to find their art, write a description and be eligible to win bike bells and bike locks  in the raffle.

Refreshments will be served.

Fill the Racks! Wednesday, May 8!

Farmer's Market 2010 - full bike rackWednesday, May 8, FILL THE RACKS! and NATIONAL BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY, all K-8th grade students. Safe Routes to School Moscow encourages students to bike, walk or roll to school on Wednesday, May 8th. SR2S will be challenging schools to figure out their school’s total milage that day & giving out incentives. Join Us for Bike Fest! Saturday, May 4th

Best-of-Bike-FestIs your bike collecting dust in the garage?  Maybe it just needs a little TLC.  Bring it to the Bike Fest for a free tune-up. Bring a bike or browse for one at the bike swap.  There will also be crafts for the kids, schwag, information about bike safety, local bike organizations and more!
