Bike for Life, Moscow Idaho Encouraging people to get on their bikes

Groups registered for the parade received a confirmation call this afternoon, with a special request: parade participants are asked to NOT wear a Santa costume.

Let’s show Moscow that winter cycling is fun! Join Bike for Life in the Light Up the Night Parade on Wednesday, December 5th.

Wear your helmets and have bike lights, of course. If you can, deck your bike with battery-operated lights in holiday colors.

Prizes will be awarded for the best entries in the following categories:  Best General Entry, Best Youth Entry, Best Use Of Lights.

The “Light up the Night” Parade will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Parade check-in will be in front of CJ’s (112 N. Main Street) starting at 6:00pm.

Join the University of Idaho Sustainability Center for tonight’s Full Moon Bike Ride!  Come decked out in lights and glow sticks and enjoy a full moon ride through Moscow. Possible prizes for most lights and/or best costume.

Meet at 9:00pm tonight at the Theopolus Tower at the University of Idaho (click here for route map).  This event is a pilot for future night time bike rides so let’s make this a ride to remember!

May 19, 9:00am-noon, LATAH TRAIL BREAKFAST RIDE TO TROY, meet 9am at Old Tidyman’s.

It’s the annual Latah Trail Breakfast Ride to Troy!  The weather forecast looks perfect for a Saturday morning bike ride.  Meet up with fellow cyclists at Old Tidyman’s at 9:00am for an enjoyable ride to Troy along the Latah Trail followed by  a delicious breakfast at The Filling Station cafe (bring your wallet).  The Filling Station cafe is offering a free ice cream cone to each Breakfast Ride participant!

Please note that this year the Old Tidyman’s (NRS) parking lot is reserved for the 5K Fun Run to China.  If you need to drive to the Breakfast Ride starting point, you will need to find another location to park your vehicle such as Eastside Marketplace.

Celebrate National Bike to Work Day by stopping for free coffee and breakfast goodies at the corner of Sixth and Main in downtown Moscow (the parking lot where the new pizza place is going to be).  Coffee provided by One World Cafe and goodies by Wheatberries and Gritman Medical Center.

May 19, 6:00pm, ON THE MOVE! LATAH TRAIL FOUNDATION DINNER & AUCTION, Best Western University Inn.

Make the move to join fellow supporters of the Latah Trail.  Enjoy an evening of dining, music, dancing, good conversation and great auction items.  This fun event is held every other year and serves as the Latah Trail Foundation‘s largest fundraiser.

May 14, 9:30am, TOW YOUR TOTS, meet at Mountain View Park.

This slow and easy bike trip will include stops to see wildlife and to visit a playground for the kids.  If you like, continue on for lunch from 11:30-12:30 at Patty’s Mexican Kitchen (bring your wallet) – Patty’s will be giving 1 free beverage to every Tow Your Tots participant!

Meet at 9:30am at Mountain View Park (free tune-ups for participants from 9:00-9:45am at the park courtesy of Paradise Creek Bicycles.)

Join us for a special evening of poetry, music and storytelling as local cyclists of all ages share their love of pedal-power.  Children are especially encouraged to participate.  Light refreshments will be served.

If you feel nervous about public speaking, bring a drawing, photo or other artwork you have made about cycling and tell us the story about the piece.  Or bring your favorite short story or children’s book about cycling to read aloud.  Whatever you choose, the stage is yours!

As a little extra incentive, the best adult and the best child performances will each win a gift card from B&L Bicycles!).
